Sundays should be Stressless

Stress n. a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or very demanding circumstances. I was stressed yesterday. I am stressed today. Work, the kids, the news, you understand, I see.

Stress is our body’s reaction to unfamiliar change requiring an adjustment or response. The body reacts with physical, mental, and emotional responses. Your heart rate increases, breathing quickens, muscles tighten, and blood pressure rises.

Sundays should be Stressless.

In the early morning

Up in the morning ’tis me
Up in the early morning
Out on the purple lake I row
Waiting for the fish to wake

Not a bird in the sky
Not a sound disturbs the stillness

Except the oar and the water
Up in the morning ’tis me

Stresslessly living

In the early morning, softly, child-like, the stillness spoke to him in whispers; he was alone on a lake whose shores stretched on beyond his vision, the water mirroring the sky, an ever-evolving canvas whose colors turned from black of night to deep purple, then crimson and red, before the sun rose above the horizon and lit up the sky in yellow and blue; for these few moments he embraced an aesthetic contemplation he could not express, but could only feel, face to face with the human capacity to wonder and enjoy.

Stresslessly living, ’tis for me.
